The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers & Distributors (ICMAD) celebrated its 14th Young Designers Competition, at Twenty Four Fifth in New York City on October 10. The annual competition showcases the talents of students studying package design, and inspires future creative talent in the beauty industry. Judged by a prestigious panel of cosmetic and personal care packaging design experts, each student received a 30ml bottle, which was donated by East Hill Industries based in Dallas. The criterion was to create the overall packaging concept and brand identity.

The first place award winner was Tara Meyer, a design student from Miami International University of Art/Design; second place went to Samantha Galvez, from the same program; and third place was awarded to Matt Zonona, a design student from Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in L.A.

The awards were presented by Pam Busiek, president and CEO of ICMAD; Ian Ginsberg, president of C.O. Bigelow and chairman of the board, ICMAD; and Ben Bennett, founder and creative director of Hatch Beauty.
